Maracay, Aragua State, Venezuela
February 10th, 1942

For more than 35 years, the prominent Venezuelan historian Jose Guillermo Carrillo has devoted his time and efforts to accomplish one of the most transcendental works in human history to collect and preserve the voice recordings of the most influential personalities of the Twentieth Century for future generations. These original soundtracks are contributions from many worldwide public and private sources and have been di-

gitalized and improved, so they could be 100% audible. In addition to this magnificent venture, Mr. Carrillo has portrayed the Liberator, Simon Bolivar, in a group of audio recordings contained on a CD collection that serves the purpose of presenting and perpetuating the Liberator's ideas through his most important letters and speeches. Mr. Carrillo's accomplishments have been acknowledged by several Venezuelan educational institutions, such as "La Universidad de los Andes" (ULA) in Merida, Venezuela, which created a website, www.bolivar.ula.ve, in order to provide the most up-to-date information related to the above-mentioned enterprise. Mr. Carrillo is also editor of two important audiocassette collections, "Venezuelan History in theTwentieth Century" and "Hispano-American Literature of the Twentieth Century". The first collection includes interviews and speeches of the most important Venezuelan political figures, and the second one presents a selection of the best poets and novelists from Hispano-America. Mr. Jose Guillermo Carrillo is also a prolific writer and columnist, with periodic appearances in magazines such as "Elite" and “Momento", and "El Mundo", which is one of the most significant newspapers in Venezuela. Jose Guillermo Carrillo's ideas and works have transcended Venezuela and obtained international recognition. "El Instituto de Tecnologia Rodolfo Loreo Arismendi" in Caracas, Venezuela, has named its audio library after him; "La Sociedad Bolivariana" in Curacao, and "La Fundacion Juan Pablo Duarte" in the Dominican Republic has designated Mr. Carrillo as honorable member of their Institutions as an appreciation for his priceless contribution to contemporary history; and the City Council of Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, declared Mr. Carrillo exceptional visitor.Today, Jose Guillermo Carrillo serves asinternational advisor for “La Universidad Interamericana de Santo Domingo", in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, and is engaged in the completion of his audio library for “La Fundacion Internacional Jose Guillermo Carrillo", with more than 5,000 original recordings. Mr. Carrillo's legacy will be to help historians, students, scholars and researchers to understand and, somehow, witness the most important political and social events of the Twentieth Century. These recordings can be downloaded from the foundation website for research and study purposes, as long as international copyrights are duly respected.
